Review: Paine by Tracy Lorraine

Synopsis:
She was my best friend. The person I told my deepest secrets to. But when my world came crashing down, it was all because of her family.

From that moment, I realized I’d been wrong to trust her. Her big caring eyes and sweet face were nothing but an act as she’d watched on while I tried to keep my head above water.

That was our past.

Now, I’ve largely put Camila behind me and moved on with my life. Though it doesn’t explain why she’s always there: taunting me, tempting me, showing me the life I could have been living.

I should have been laughing when her own world turned upside down. Karma always wins out in the end. But suddenly we’re forced together once again and I have no choice but to remember the girl I’ve tried so hard to forget.

Dear Reader,

PAINE is the highly anticipated follow up to my high school bully romance, THORN. Are you ready to discover the truth about what happened between Camila and Mason? This enemies to lover romance is full of angst, drama, emotions and of course steam. It is an upper YA romance and not intended for readers under 17. I hope you enjoy. xo

My Review:
Title: Paine
Author: Tracy Lorraine
Format: ebook
Genre: Romance, high school bully, enemies to lovers, second chance
Standalone: yes but the very last part of the epilogue leads into the next book
Part of a Series: book 2 in the Rosewood Hugh series You dint need to read book 1 (Thorn) but I highly recommend it
POV: Camila and Mason
Steam Level: toasty at times
5/5

Former best friend turned enemies, they know each other’s secrets and what buttons to push to cause the most damage. But why did they fall out? I loved getting to find out the story behind Cami and Mason that was teased a little in Thorn I also loved seeing more of Jake and Amalie’s HEA. Paine is an emotional roller coaster with so many ups and downs, twists and turns that you dint know what will happen next. Tracy Lorraine’s writing is fantastic and I really like this world she has created.

Favorite Quotes:

  • Camila Lopez was mine from the first moment I laid eyes on her. It was always inevitable, and it’s about time I started proving that she feels the same.
  • There was never supposed to be anything between us, but I allowed life to break us apart. Well no more. Camila is mine, and there won’t be a fucking thing separating us ever again.
  • It makes me smile that she can be embarrassed by my words while she’s full of my cock.
  • “I’ve loved you since the first moment I saw you, Cami. It was always meant to be us.”
  • But deep down, you were the only one who ever really knew me, and I haven’t changed, not really. I might be a little tougher skinned now, some might say an asshole, but I’m still the boy you used to play hide and seek with in the woods.
  • “You’re going to be my wife one day. I hope you know that.”
