He’s the guy no one likes…
Despite winning two national championships, JR “Ace” Anderson was sent packing from his old school after losing the trust of his coach. At Southern U, he has a second chance to prove that his college legacy isn’t endless debauchery and selfishness. But his reputation precedes him, and his teammates offer a chilly welcome in the locker room. The one person who is willing to accept him is the very woman he should stay away from—his new coach’s daughter.
She’s the girl everyone loves…
Bryant Johnson’s only goal in life is to make others happy, even at her own expense. One look at her father’s new star quarterback, and she knows that Ace is her next project. With a reputation for being a “jerk whisperer”, Bryant has spent her last three years at college reforming sorry behavior and turning bad boys into the best boyfriends ever. In Ace, though, she’s met with surly resistance and a sizzling attraction she doesn’t expect. Fixing this wounded warrior will be her biggest challenge yet. Not falling for him will be even harder.
Between her big heart and his damaged one, a battle is ensuing. In this game of love, every defense will crumble.
Genre: Romance – Sports
Part of a Series: Yes – Book 3 Characters from books 1 & 2 make cameos which is fun for fans of the series
Steam Level – Quite hot at times (I mean Ace is an athlete with tons of stamina )
When we first met Ace in Jock Blocked (book 2) we knew there was a decent man somewhere within him. It was just buried deep. I’m so glad that Ace got his redemption story!
New school, new slate, right? Except that he’s not really fitting in with the team, his roommates ostracize him and he doesn’t really have any friends. His reputation with woman has proceeded him. But that’s okay because Bryant’s here to change all that – except she’s the coaches daughter (again).
But oddly the coach seems to be okay with this. (◎_◎;)
Suddenly the team is interacting with him. Is it because if the baked goods?
Bryant’s full of Southern charm, wit, and manners and is determined to pass those along to Ace. Bryant prides herself in her program turn a**holes into good boyfriends and Ace is her next project. What Bryant doesn’t count on is Ace being so perceptive with her and her body (hello opening scene). He calls her out on it. Her rule – only her (goodbye player ways). His rule – no holding back Hello party bathroom scene – Jen Frederick does these very well (the bathroom scene from Sacked is still my favorite so far but this one is a close second)
The fireworks between Ace and Bryant are explosive. North meets South in this battle of wits and wills. I had a hard time putting this one down (actually warned the hubby that this tends to happen with Jen Frederick’s books). I found myself laughing out loud at some parts – especially the BG (big gesture – hello Unraveled fans) and the square.
The only thing I’d like to see is more of is an epilogue. And of course more books in this series 😉
I was generously provided an advanced copy by the author. I’m voluntarily giving an honest review.
