Review: Prey by Dakota West

Category : Reviews

Zach Monson is a man on a mission. Two years ago, he watched his brother shift into an eagle. Now late-blooming engineer Zach is driven to find the secret to shifting, and there’s nothing in this world that could derail his quest.

Except maybe Katrina, a curvy, gorgeous, whip-smart biomechanical engineer. One look at Katrina, and Zach knows he needs her. In his bed, and in his life.

Katrina knows it’s unprofessional to go out with a prospective employee, but she can’t seem to say no. Zach is tall, built, smart, and impossibly sexy. Men like that don’t come around every day. Just one date, just one kiss… what can it hurt?

After falling head over heels for Zach’s charms, Katrina soon discovers that her crazy boss has been searching for Zach for months. Zach quickly realizes that he’s not the only one interested in his family’s secret… and that it might be putting Katrina in peril.

Ancient shifter secrets, unforgettable passion, and shadowed threats lie around every twist and turn in this tale. Will Zach and Katrina be strong enough to fight for their newfound love, or will they both become prey?

My Review:
Genre: Romance – Suspense, paranormal, shifter (Eagle)
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Yes Book 2 of Copper Mesa Eagles – each brother has their own book. We met Zach in Seth’s book (Predator) but you don’t have to it to enjoy Zach’s (But I recommend you do, if only because Dakota West is awesome)
POV: Zach and Katrina
Steam Level: Toasty at times

I really like this series. Copper Mesa Eagles adds a unique twist to the shifter genre with different parameters than other shifter books. Prey was a mix of humor, suspense, and steam. I liked meeting up with Seth/Jules and seeing more of their HEA and getting to know Zach even more. Prey is fun novella to lost in during a lazy afternoon.

I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Favorite Quotes:

  • I’ll kill anyone who makes her cry, he thought, then blinked. That seemed a little extreme. Sure he’d fuck up anyone who tried to hurt her, but kill someone? Come on.
  • If I could mount a mirror on every surface and watch you from every angl, I’d do it.
