I found this series completely by accident probably ten or fifteen years ago when I was browsing a bookstore while on vacation.  Although I had never heard the author before the cover caught my eye and the synopsis sealed the deal.  I bought the first two books and devoured them so quickly I had to go and buy the next in the series. And then had to wait for the rest.
