Playing Dirty

Category : Reviews

Synopsis:
What happens when the one you hate is the one you love?

In his pimply teens, Julien was led on, played and publicly humiliated by Noemi.

But time has been kind to him.

Now a heartthrob and formidable water polo defender, Julien has no trouble with the ladies.

That means, he can finally get back at Noemi.

Only… he hadn’t expected her to have grown from a shallow girl to a caring woman.

A woman with feelings.

Nor had he anticipated the bitter aftertaste of his revenge, or how empty his bed–and his life–would be without her.

Might she still have his heart?

While Julien ponders the question, Noemi sets out on her own quest for payback.

My Review:
Genre: Romance – Dark, Revenge, Second-Chance, Sports
Stand Alone: Yes
Part of a Series: Yes Book 3 Of the Playing to Win Series. All are stand alone novels with interconnecting characters
POV: Julien and Noemi
Steam Level: Warm
4/5

I’ve read quite a few, if not all, of Alix Nichols books and this one was unexpectedly dark (although reading the synopsis gives you a bit of a clue of this so my bad). When I started Playing Dirty I was in the mood for a light-hearted romance but Nichols throws you in from the start with the plotting of revenge. I almost stopped reading but decided to give it at least a chapter and I’m glad I did!!! Alix Nichols does what she does best in keeping me engaged and intrigued and also making me fall for what could have been some very unlikeable characters. The trial and redemption that Julien and Noemi are both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Give Playing Dirty a shot. You’ll be happy you did!

I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
