The sound of the gavel crashing down,
Has my life flashing before my eyes.
Learning to play ball.
Falling in love,
Marrying an incredible woman and starting a family
Becoming a starting pitcher for the Indianapolis Lightning.
Everything I ever wanted… Until I struck out.
The same success that gave me the life I dreamed of,
Took it all away.
I’d do anything for a second chance,
Even throw the perfect pitch.
Jillian
A signature on a piece of paper…
It binds you to someone, or it can tear them away.
It broke my heart to file the papers.
Gutted me to sign them.
But this isn’t the life I envisioned.
Tired of competing to be his number one priority,
I had to walk away from the man I loved.
I needed to be strong for our girls, for me.
Life goes on.
People can change.
Now he wants a second chance.
My Review:
Title: The Perfect Pitch
Author: Samantha Lind
Format: Ebook
Genre: Romance – Second-chance, sports (baseball)
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Book 1 of the Indianapolis Lightening series
POV: Derek and Jillian
Steam Level: Slow Burn to toasty
5/5
I haven’t read many (if any) romance books that start with the couple getting a divorce. However, the divorce is the catalyst to Derek getting himself together and his determination to win his ex-wife back. I love that Samantha Lind pulled all the emotions together from betrayal, broken trust, and hurting hearts to earned trust and healed hearts. From the start Samantha Lind portrayed that there was still a strong love between Derek and Jillian but that some things cannot and should not stand in a marriage with young children. I love that Jillian made Derek work to prove himself to her – as hard as it was for her to resist his charm. Fans of Samantha Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles series get a special treat as well. I cannot wait to devour more of this series. Samantha Lind’s writing is unique, poignant and so sweet (and sexy too). The Perfect Pitch is a great start to a new series.
I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
