Review: Big Ben by Nana Malone

Synopsis:
“I’m so ridiculously addicted!” -#1 NYT Bestseller Rachel Van Dyken

It began with betrayal.
And ended in murder.

She was never supposed to cross my path.
She was never supposed to know about the Currency of Secrets or the Oaths of Blood.

But like a thief in the night, she stole my soul even if she wasn’t mine to possess.

As a member of the Elite, I live by simple tenets. A gentleman above all. Private matters stay private. Secrets whispered are never revealed. Enemies and friends are of the same coin. And power is king.

My so-called brothers killed my friend. I intend to make them pay.  And before it’s over, I’ll bend all the rules of morality, decency and legality. I will borrow and steal to set the scales right. But begging–begging, you can forget about.

My name is Ben Covington and I know my sins.

*This is only the beginning of the story of how a woman I met in a closet turned me into a thief. It takes time for the perfect heist. Join me and the London Lords in the continuation of the story in The Benefactor!

My Review:
Title: Big Ben
Author: Nana Malone
Format: ebook
Genre: Romantic suspense, boss
Standalone: nope
Part of a Series: book 1 of the See No Evil trilogy
POV: Livy and Ben
Steam Level: slow burn to toasty
4/5

Big Ben is a gripping romantic suspense with secret societies, scheming, betrayal, and stalkers. So many questions still to be answered. I cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy. Nana Malone once again proves her talent in weaving a complex story that’s sweet, funny and full of tension (all sorts of tension).

I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Favorite Quotes:

  • Sure, It smelled of piss and and bad decisions, but if I was being honest, it was worth it.
  • The look was totally buttoned-down. The vamp of the other night was tucked neatly away. I almost liked this version of her better. I could make this version dirty.
  • Some mistakes had to be made
  • No one said no to me. I usually charmed them into compliance.
  • I wanted to lean in. I wanted to sniff him. Why did he smell so good? It wasn’t fair. He was supposed to be a troll, completely unattractive.
  • Nothing about the woman was ever straightforward. And she was sitting there was a soft smile, smelling like temptation and every bad decision I’d ever made.
  • “You are going to be a pain in the arse, aren’t you?” “Yes, I am. Is that a problem?”
  • You don’t realize how lonely you are if you’re always doing something else.
  • Enemies and friends are of the same coin. Loyalty is a fickle bitch.
  • Sometimes it’s easier to pretend than to let them see the real you.
  • Being with you reminds me that I have been living in a shell of myself for too long.
