Review: Distracted by A.K. Evans

Synopsis:

Marriage of convenience? More like marriage of inconvenience. Especially when it turns deadly.

Ellery Cross did what she had to do to save her family from ruin. She married a man she wasn’t in love with. Worse, she married a man she knew nothing about.

But Ellery eventually learns all she needs to know about her husband. And sticking around is not an option.

As part of the Harper Security Ops self-defense and tactical training unit, Kane Ramsey spends his days teaching people how to fight back. He promises to teach Ellery the same, even if he’s the one that wants to protect her.

In a perfect world, Ellery and Kane would live happily ever after.

But she won’t be distracted by dreams of a better tomorrow. Ellery has enough to worry about right now. And getting involved with Kane would not only be foolish, it could also be deadly for both of them.

My Review:

Title: Distracted
Author: A.K. Evans
Format: ebook
Genre: Romantic suspense, Military, Private Security, Bodyguard
Standalone: yes
Part of a Series: Book 7 of Harper Security Ops
POV: Ellery, Kane
Steam Level: Slow burn to steamy
4/5

Ellery is on the run from her husband. I love that she was a meticulous planner and was smart about running. Part of Ellery’s escape plan was to learn to defend herself which is where/how she met Kane. I loved that she continued her lessons even after Kane started protecting her. And that the reason for running from different from the norm. I really liked this book and despite it being the seventh in the series I didn’t feel lost. Although I definitely have the rest of this series on my wish list now. I was to know all the stories. I love romantic suspense in general (I grew up reading mystery/thriller novels so it’s my jam) and I especially love the romantic suspense stories where I don’t know what will happen. Distracted kept me reading with no clue what was going to happen next.

I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.

  • There was a threat of certain doom surrounding me, and yet, I was here feeling tingles between my legs for the first time in my life, because a decent guy grinned at me.
  • I hadn’t anticipated finding Kane when I came to Steel Ridge, but I did. And now that I’d had him in my life for sevearl weeks now, I wasn’t sure I’d ever want to return to a life without him in it.
